January has been a good month for LawCrossing. As the leading job site in America that offers legal jobs and career opportunities, they have reached an all-time high number of job listings. This month the site passed 170,000 active job listings.
This is in contrast to the recently released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Bureau reports that the number of jobs in the U.S. legal industry fell by 1,400 in January leaving the employed number down from December at 1,122,800 compared to 1,124,400. This is surprising when 2015 has shown overall to be a year of growth for the legal market. There are currently 9,000 more people employed than there were a year ago.
However, law schools are reporting a positive outlook for 2016. The latest results from the ABA’s yearly survey found that enrollment was only down 5 percent, with the number of matriculating first-year students down just 2 percent. There are more students applying to law schools, just not applying to very many.
LawCrossing will be continuing their efforts to make the job search process easier for legal professionals so that they don’t have to comb through countless pages to find job listings that fit their qualifications.
