Advice to law firm management:
Completely rethink how the firm handles lateral recruiting. The process is managed in Philadelphia and local offices have little input or control. The firm should be more aggressive in pursuing candidates, engaging headhunters and paying market compensation.
Pros:
The quality of the attorneys and the emphasis on great client service at MLB are outstanding. The nature of the work is incredible. MLB handles some of the biggest disputes, most difficult transactions and regulatory matters for its clients. Its clients are the leading companies in technology, financial services, energy and retail. The firm spends a tremendous amount of time on associate development, training, mentoring and evaluation.
Cons:
Although the firm pays market compensation, it has a reputation for being "cheap". Part of that spills over into its lateral partner recruiting where the firm's approach and processes are poor.

Pros:

Cons:
Salaries are lower than the industry average. Secretaries are disrespected and micromanaged by supervisors.
